Late at night, in a fast car on the motorway between Turin and Milan, en route to meet the Italian prime minister Matteo Renzi, Bono goes quiet before saying: “The greatest line ever said about me and also the most accurate line ever said about me was most definitely by my father. He said, ‘You, Bono, are a baritone who thinks he’s a tenor.’ And that is the story of my life right there.”

Bono and Ali Attend Poetry Hour

I'D have thought Bono would have stayed in on Sunday evening to watch The Voice of Ireland on the telly. To keep up with the kids and all that? Still, Bono has no doubt forgotten more about innovation in music than the kids will ever know. But I digress. 

Bono and his lovely other half Ali were at The Josephine Hart Poetry Hour at the Abbey Theatre in Dublin last Sunday evening. Maurice Saatchi, the husband of the late novelist Josephine, sat with Bono and Ali. Given that Maurice's official title is Baron Saatchi, I wonder was the U2 singer musing throughout the proceedings that Baron Bono has a certain ring. Perhaps he didn't have time to entertain such thoughts as he was enjoying it all so much. At one point Bob Geldof broke off from reading a poem because he said he was too distracted by gorgeous Sinead Cusack (sitting on Sir Bob's left), in particular, by her stockingclad legs. "The stockings, Sinead", Bob moaned, "the stockings" Hardly missing a beat, the owner of those pretty pins turned to Bob and said: "The title of the next poem exlains it www.all.No Country For Old Men." Everyone at the Abbey laughed - including, admirably, Sir Bob and Baron Bono.

Baron Bono and Baroness Ali seem to be going out to all the right events lately. They were at the three day wedding of Bono's niece Emma at Rathsallagh House in Wicklow on New Year's Eve.

All this suggests that such activity triggers a reaction in the body which somehow thwarts cancer cells, but the details of the process have remained murky. Now, a team led by Pernille Hojman at Copenhagen University Hospital, in Denmark, has reported in Cell Metabolism that the key to the mystery is adrenalin.

Liam Neeson spends Valentine's Day at Bono's fashion show

Hollywood star Liam Neeson joined U2 frontman Bono as he swapped the stage for the catwalk to debut his new collection for his ethical fashion label Edun.

The AW16 collection, designed with wife Ali Hewson, pulled in a selection of front row A-listers, including Ballymena superstar Neeson. 

Also there adding the glamour were supermodel-turned-photographer Helena Christensen and The Walking Dead star Danai Gurira.

Edun, which is 'nude' spelt backwards, was set up in 2005 by the husband and wife team to promote ethical trade in Africa.

Despite being held on the most romantic day of the year, Valentine's Day, Neeson was tagging along with Bono and Ali with no mystery woman in sight.

After later admitting that he didn't have a new woman in his life, Neeson instead spent Valentine's Day watching the fashion show. 

He said the girlfriend statement was just a joke.

Neeson has been unattached since the tragic death of his wife Natasha Richardson following a skiing accident seven years ago.

As predicted, Edun's new collection was received as well as the label's SS16 show last September which Bono missed as he was on tour with the band in Europe. 

However, he caught the style vibe on Sunday and turned up in a satin-lapelled tuxedo jacket, V-neck tee, black jeans and his signature rose-hued glasses.

Neeson wore a polo-neck and smart grey suit, topped with a black overcoat. 

The Taken star sat beside Ali Hewson who was dressed in a tab-fronted black coat with white stitching from the brand's pre-autumn 2016 collection.

The fast-moving catwalk show included a wide range of textures including loom-woven wool, devoré velvets, unravelling tweeds, high-gleam patent leathers and denim.

Colour-wise, there was everything from navy blue, grey, yellow, pink, ivory and a crock of gold tweed.

DAVOS, Switzerland: U2 front man Bono and American actor Kevin Spacey took to the stage in Davos, Switzerland. Bono was present not to sing one of his band’s hits but to bring attention to the Red charity, which he helped start 10 years ago after meeting business leaders in this Alpine town. Bono said that the idea for the fund, which raises money to fight diseases in poor countries, came about because “We were mad as hell that where you lived determined whether you lived.”
